This item came free when I purchased the Magellan Roadmate 1470. So far it hasn’t come to be very helpful but only because I haven’t encountered any serious traffic jams while using it. Really, I haven’t used it much because I bought it for my mom who uses it for work. I think it is still a great purchase though because it lets you know of slow or stopped traffic and gives you the opportunity to route around it. Not sure about the price, but glad it came free with the GPS device.

Not bad traffic info, but unsure of re-routing efficiency. I’ve hit a bad traffic in Cincinnati, OH. Magellan did use this traffic info to re-route me, but it put me thru a bunch of back streets with many, many lights. Was it really effective? No way to tell. Maybe I’ll run a test with my wife with 2 cars going separate ways. . .

I recently purched at best buys the magellan 1440. At first I liked it & thought it to be a keeper so I ordered the traffic link through amazon. After a couple of major screw-ups with the gps unit ( taking me to an intersection & ceasing to give me directions for example)I decided that it wasn,t a keeper after all. The magellan gps went back to best buys and the traffic link went back to amazon. I did take The traffic link & gps out on a couple test runs and it seemed to do what it,s supossed to do. Too bad the magellan 1440 gps isn,t up to snuff. It has some really features. I bought a tom tom 730 & love it. It hasn,t let me down
